Basal ganglia

Topic

The basal ganglia, or basal nuclei, are a group of subcortical nuclei found in the brains of vertebrates at the base of the forebrain and top of the midbrain. They are strongly connected with the cerebral cortex, thalamus, and brainstem, playing a critical role in regulating voluntary motor movements, procedural learning, habit formation, and eye movements.
