Bakersfield is a city in and the county seat of Kern County, California, United States. Located near the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley within the Central Valley region, it is a major hub for both agriculture and energy production. The city is also historically significant as the birthplace of the country music genre known as the Bakersfield sound.
