An atlatl, or spear-thrower, is an ancient hunting tool that uses leverage to achieve greater velocity and distance when throwing a dart or javelin. It consists of a shaft with a cup or spur at the end that supports and propels the butt of the dart, effectively extending the thrower's arm. This technology was widely used by prehistoric cultures worldwide before the development of the bow and arrow.
