António Egas Moniz was a Portuguese neurologist who developed cerebral angiography and helped pioneer psychosurgery through the surgical procedure leucotomy, later known as lobotomy. He received the 1949 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, shared with Walter Rudolf Hess.
