An anti-disparagement clause is a legal provision in a contract or agreement that prohibits the signing parties from making negative, critical, or derogatory statements about each other. Commonly used in employment contracts, severance packages, and consumer terms of service, these clauses are designed to protect a company's or individual's reputation. In recent years, their enforceability has been increasingly regulated, such as through the Consumer Review Fairness Act in the United States, which bans their use in consumer contracts.
