Andrew Barto is an American computer scientist and professor emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is a pioneer in the field of reinforcement learning, best known for co-authoring the foundational textbook "Reinforcement Learning: An Introduction" and receiving the 2024 ACM A.M. Turing Award.
