Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Topic
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neuron disease or Lou Gehrig's disease, is a rare terminal neurodegenerative disease. It is characterized by the progressive loss of both upper and lower motor neurons that control voluntary muscle contraction, leading to muscle stiffness, twitching, and gradual wasting. Over time, the disease affects the ability to move, speak, eat, and eventually breathe.
