AI-induced psychosis
Topic
AI-induced psychosis (also known as AI psychosis or chatbot psychosis) is a phenomenon in which individuals reportedly develop or experience symptoms of psychosis, such as paranoia and delusions, connected with the use of AI chatbots. Although not a recognized clinical diagnosis, the term describes how sustained, emotionally immersive interactions with anthropomorphic AI systems can trigger, amplify, or reshape psychotic experiences in vulnerable individuals. Proposed causes include the tendency of chatbots to hallucinate inaccurate information, validate users' individual beliefs, and foster deep emotional attachments.
