Ahmed Abu Khattala is a Libyan militant accused by the United States of helping plan the 2012 attack on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya. He was captured by U.S. forces in 2014 and convicted in 2017 of terrorism-related charges, though he was acquitted of the most serious murder charges.
