Rhône-Poulenc was a French chemical and pharmaceutical company founded in 1928. It merged with Hoechst AG in 1999 to form Aventis; its former pharmaceutical operations are now part of Sanofi, while chemical activities became part of companies including Solvay and Bayer Crop Science.
