Parental investment theory

Topic

Parental investment theory, formulated by Robert Trivers in 1972, is a branch of evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology that analyzes any parental expenditure of time, energy, or resources that benefits an offspring. The theory predicts that the sex that invests more in its offspring will be more selective when choosing a mate, while the sex that invests less will compete more intensely for access to mates.
