Estrogen
Topic
Estrogen is a category of sex hormones responsible for the development and regulation of the female reproductive system and secondary sex characteristics. The three major endogenous estrogens with hormonal activity are estrone (E1), estradiol (E2), and estriol (E3), with estradiol being the most potent and prevalent. Estrogens are also used as medications in hormonal birth control, menopausal hormone therapy, and gender-affirming hormone therapy.
