The Unite the Right rally was a white supremacist rally and counter-protest event that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, from August 11 to 12, 2017. Organized by far-right groups to oppose the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, the event resulted in violent clashes and a deadly car attack that killed counter-protester Heather Heyer.
