1,3-Butanediol is an organic compound and a chiral diol with the chemical formula CH3CH(OH)CH2CH2OH. It is a colorless, bittersweet, water-soluble liquid that is one of four common structural isomers of butanediol. The compound is commonly used as a solvent for food flavorings, a co-monomer in polyurethane and polyester resins, and as an alcohol substitute known as Ketohol.
