The brief
Evening Wire opens with Iran firing on neighboring countries in the largest exchange since July, while Donald Trump says the United States struck equipment near the Strait of Hormuz.
The legal news is unusually concentrated: Tyler Robinson will face all seven charges in the Charlie Kirk murder case, while Dawn Light is arrested after jurors in the Lindsay Clancy trial reported being filmed.
The episode also tracks a journalist’s prison sentence for acting under a Chinese intelligence officer, a House resolution condemning socialism, and a Kentucky State Fair banner advertising abortion pills by mail.
Tiger Woods reaches a plea agreement replacing DUI charges with reckless driving and refusing a sobriety test, bringing a five-year driving restriction.
Uber plans roughly 3,300 layoffs as it redirects savings toward robo-taxi technology, while about 500 teenagers disrupt an Aurora shopping complex and report property damage follows.
The standout human moment comes from Thomas Fahmy, who survives a lightning strike outside his Staten Island home and walks back inside about a minute later.
